During the Coreplan project we have examined how the authorities can manage our coastal zone while taking into account the value provided by our natural environment and safeguarding the various interests concerned.

ECCO

Ecosystem services and coastal governance

ECCO aimed to explore the potential and implications of integrating the concept of ecosystem services in impact assessment methodology. The project focused on knowledge production in impact assessments for new industrial activities in the coastal zone, as well as the potential for and implications of applying cultural ecosystem services as a conceptual tool.

Authent-Net

Food Authenticity Research Network

The goal is to facilitate sustainable cooperation between national and international research funding bodies in the area of food authenticity, to improve the competitiveness of the food supply chain and the consumer confidence in it, by means of better‐coordinated, cost‐effective R&D.

Peptek

Peptide technology for the future’s protein production

With the use of modern, research-based process technology and expertise, unused or under utilized biomass of marine or terrestrial origin can be used for new, marketable products. We coordinate, develop and increase Nofima’s total expertise related to the future of sustainable protein production. Peptek is a strategic research initiative focused on sustainability, total utilization, food safety and future food security.

CabbageTaste

Increased value creation of Norwegian Brassica vegetables – mapping sensory quality and plant compounds to improve consumer choice

The consumption of vegetables has increased over the last years, but the sales of cruciferous vegetables (Brassica, cabbages) has been stagnant. Increased awareness of taste can increase sale of cabbage.

Biofresh

The project aimed at producing fresh, healthy greenhouse vegetables of high quality in Norway all year round without using fossil fuels and chemical pesticides and without producing waste.

Micro MBT

Discovery and training of microbial biocatalysts for biomass conversion using moving bed technology (MBT).

Micro MBT is a project focused on the conversion of low value biomass to products with higher value.

Ecological impacts of genetic introgression of farmed on wild salmon

The successful cooperation in QuantEscape between four leading research institutions that study interactions between escaped farmed and wild Atlantic Salmon led to a second project, QuantEscape2. The project will provide knowledge that can improve the management of wild and farmed salmon and increase the sustainability of industries that depend on salmon.

RENSVEL

Welfare of cleaner fish

With the increasing use of cleaner fish, especially farmed ballan wrasse and lumpfish (and also wild-caught goldsinny wrasse), there is a need for more knowledge on the welfare of these species.

AQUAEXCEL2020

The overall aim with AQUAEXCEL2020 is to integrate the most successful research facilities within aquaculture in Europe. The project shall provide access to easily accessible high quality infrastructures, resources and services, based on aquaculture needs, and by such stimulate to excellent research and sustainable innovations to both private and public sector.

The Arctic as a food producing region

The aim of the “Arctic food” project has been to assess the potential for increased production and value creation of food produced in the Arctic areas of Norway. The overall goal is to contribute to economic development in Arctic communities.

The goal is to develop smart labels produced with print technology. Using this technology fish can be monitored from the moment they are caught until served at the dinner table.

CtrlAQUA

Centre for Research-Based Innovation in Closed-Containment Aquaculture

CtrlAQUA is a Centre for Research-based Innovation (SFI) that will lay the foundation for the development of closed-containment concepts of the future. With greater control of the production process, it will be possible to reduce problems associated with mortality and sea lice, and to reduce the production time for farmed salmon.

Nordic mackerel

Improved quality and value of Nordic mackerel products for the Global market

The project will investigate the seasonal variation of the fish by carrying out comprehensive studies on how individual factors affect the quality of mackerel products at various stages in the value chain.
