Ecological impacts of genetic introgression of farmed on wild salmon
The successful cooperation in QuantEscape between four leading research institutions that study interactions between escaped farmed and wild Atlantic Salmon led to a second project, QuantEscape2. The project will provide knowledge that can improve the management of wild and farmed salmon and increase the sustainability of industries that depend on salmon.

The main objective of the project is to quantify the ecological impacts of genetic introgression of farmed on wild salmon. The project will investigate phenotypic changes in wild atlantic salmon related to introgression of farmed salmon, functional genomic variation and introgression in farmed, hybrid and wild salmon, and the effects of escaped farmed salmon and other anthropogenic stressors on wild populations through population dynamic models.
The primary goal for the project is to provide guidelines for sustainable aquaculture and management of natural populations of Atlantic salmon.
