BALANCE
In BALANCE the aim was to increase the basic understanding of how nutrients in the feed, in combination with genetic background, affect the occurrence of metabolically induced health and quality problems in Atlantic salmon.
Period
2017 - 2020
Funded by
The Research Council of Norway
Fresk
This initiative will help Nofima acquire new knowledge on how to optimally freeze, store and defrost fish.
Nofima
Blueshell
The overall aim of BlueShell is to explore different aspects of bioactivity in fermented/hydrolysed shellfish by-products which can serve as a basis for new high-value products aiding a sustainable supply of safe, health promoting foods.
2017 - 2019
EU - ERA-Net Cofund
FutureFish
We study the genetics of robustness in salmon to thermal stress and sea-lice to improve the robustness of salmon and lumpfish under climate change.
FeedMod
In this project we developed analytical tools and models of the gastrointestinal system in Salmon to understand how different sources of proteins and physical pellet quality affect nutrient utilization and gut microbiota for improved fish health.
SafeFood
The main aim of the project is to turn ready-to-eat food products based on meat, fish and vegetables safer and more durable.
2016 - 2019
EcoSorb
In the EcoSorb project, a novel and more environmentally friendly liquid absorber pad for fresh food products is developed, which will result in increased use of renewable raw materials and reduced use of plastic materials from fossil fuels.
2016 - 2020
A web portal with indicators on the sustainability of Norwegian aquaculture has been developed. The portal was released in December 2018, and covers more than 20 different themes on environmental, economic and social sustainability.
2016 - 2024
The Norwegian Seafood Research Fund - FHF
ClimeFish
Climate changes are happening right now and they are threatening sustainable growth in aquaculture and fisheries worldwide. ClimeFish wants to draw the focus to the necessity of change, both when it comes to using opportunities while mitigating risks under the effects of climate change on aquaculture and fisheries.
EU - Horizon 2020
Coreplan
The coast is prized as a playground in which leisure as well as business activities can be enjoyed. During the Coreplan project we have examined how the authorities can manage our coastal zone while taking into account the value provided by our natural environment and safeguarding the various interests concerned.
ECCO
ECCO aimed to explore the potential and implications of integrating the concept of ecosystem services in impact assessment methodology. The project focused on knowledge production in impact assessments for new industrial activities in the coastal zone, as well as the potential for and implications of applying cultural ecosystem services as a conceptual tool.
2016 - 2018
Mikon - The Fram Centre
Authent-Net
The goal is to facilitate sustainable cooperation between national and international research funding bodies in the area of food authenticity, to improve the competitiveness of the food supply chain and the consumer confidence in it, by means of better‐coordinated, cost‐effective R&D.
Peptek
With the use of modern, research-based process technology and expertise, unused or under utilized biomass of marine or terrestrial origin can be used for new, marketable products. We coordinate, develop and increase Nofima’s total expertise related to the future of sustainable protein production. Peptek is a strategic research initiative focused on sustainability, total utilization, food safety and future food security.
2016 - 2022
CabbageTaste
The consumption of vegetables has increased over the last years, but the sales of cruciferous vegetables (Brassica, cabbages) has been stagnant. Increased awareness of taste can increase sale of cabbage.
Agricultural Agreement Research Funds (FJM)
The project aimed at producing fresh, healthy greenhouse vegetables of high quality in Norway all year round without using fossil fuels and chemical pesticides and without producing waste.
Micro MBT
Micro MBT is a project focused on the conversion of low value biomass to products with higher value.
The successful cooperation in QuantEscape between four leading research institutions that study interactions between escaped farmed and wild Atlantic Salmon led to a second project, QuantEscape2. The project will provide knowledge that can improve the management of wild and farmed salmon and increase the sustainability of industries that depend on salmon.
RENSVEL
With the increasing use of cleaner fish, especially farmed ballan wrasse and lumpfish (and also wild-caught goldsinny wrasse), there is a need for more knowledge on the welfare of these species.
2015 - 2019
This is a small selection of the more than 600 projects Nofima is involved in at any given time.
