Grete Bæverfjord
PhD
Senior Scientist
I work as a Senior Scientist at the Department of Nutrition and Feed Technology in Sunndalsøra. My main focus is on all production-related issues in farmed fish, except for those related to contagious diseases. I have mainly worked with projects that focused on deformities and abnormalities and how they can be prevented through optimization of the feed and the fishes’ environment. We have established an X-ray laboratory at Sunndalsøra where we capture images of fish from 1 g up to broodstock size, and often work in teams where we combine X-rays with other examination methods. We also conduct X-ray diagnostics on fish from external sources when there is capacity. In addition, I am responsible for animal-related laboratory research at Nofima’s Research Station for Sustainable Aquaculture (PMSK) at Sunndalsøra. I have a veterinary degree (1985) and a Dr.Scient. degree (1992), both from the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science in Oslo.
