Summary
The main goal of this project was to acquire knowledge about the utilization of two new DHA sources, respectively, oil from genetically modified rapeseed and microalgae Schizochytrium sp in diet of Atlantic salmon. The project has focused on fish performance, quality and health. Overall, the project results suggest that both oil from genetically modified rapeseed, omega-3 canola and Schizochytrium sp. (heterotrophic microalgae) are safe new alternative sources of omega-3 fatty acids in feed for salmon, which essentially lead to good performance, quality, composition and health of the fish
