I work as a researcher at the Department of Marine Biotechnology. Here I work mostly with the utilization of marine residual raw material, and little utilized marine species such as mesopelagic fish, algae and redfeed (Calanus). We use different types of processing methods such as enzymatic hydrolysis to extract value components from the raw material, and aim to utilize the entire raw material in the best possible way.
I have a Master in Fisheries Science from UiT, where the main thesis was on pre-rigor filleting of farmed Atlantic cod. I also have a PhD from UiT which dealt with pilot scale processing of redfeed (Calanus finmarchicus) and analyzes of the oil and protein fraction after processing.
