We are far from defining what a sustainable food system looks like. We believe that food systems involve all the activities affecting the food we eat. Production, processing, distribution, marketing and consumption. Climate and environment, people, infrastructure and institutions.  

Sustainability is becoming more and more important for consumers, businesses and the authorities. Sustainability is a driver of innovation in the food industry.  

Our researchers work along the entire food value chain from farm and fjord to fork.  

We have a clear vision in Nofima: “Sustainable food for everyone”.  

And an explicit social mission: “Outstanding research and innovation contributing to sustainable food production and sound regulation of resources from sea and land.”
