Summary

Since 2015, Norges Råfisklag (The Norwegian Fishermen’s Sales Organization) has conducted regular inspections on fish quality, in accordance with the fish quality regulations' § 5, 6, 7 and 8. In parallel, Nofima has carried out a project to register and document fish quality every year from 2014 to 2020. The report summarizes results from registration of catch damages and quality status from the coastal fisheries. There is also a short summary of the findings from inspections carried out by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority and Råfisklaget. Although results are ambiguous, it is considered that focusing quality through inspections and provision of knowledge, is beneficial to change practices for the better of quality.
