Background
This project addresses the key aim for a sustainable and low emission food system transition in Norway by seeking a better understanding of what can be changed and how such changes can be facilitated.
Goal
The main project objective is to study how to support a shift towards a sustainable low emission food system by identifying the potential and barriers for changes in demand, production and innovation, and the incentives that could remove those barriers and realize the potentials.
What we do
During the project, the goal is to:
- Explore the potential for more plant-based production
- Analyze drivers for consumption choices and sustainable business models – here Nofima is involved in collaboration with NMBU both with consumer and innovation knowledge
- Explore sustainable business innovations and market opportunities – here we will understand how players succeeded in other countries, identify barriers in Norway and make proposals for new innovations (business model, products, etc.) – product and raw material knowledge (Food and Health) and innovation knowledge from Nofima contributes.
- Analyze the conflicts and risks of the food system, and work for greater coherence in policy.
