Background
There is a need to strengthen societal preparedness in several areas, as highlighted by the Total Emergency Preparedness Commission (Totalberedskapskommisjonen). Their report underscores both the strategic importance and vulnerability of Northern Norway, and emphasises the need for improved food security and food preparedness.
Objectives
The ResNor project will generate knowledge that is important for food production, food security, and public health in both Northern Norway and the rest of the country, particularly in light of the new threat landscape facing the High North.
Climate change, environmental concerns, and societal developments are also taken into account in the assessments.
What we do
Nofima analyses how these challenges are currently addressed, and how their management can be improved within and across the relevant policy areas.
We also study food production in the region, both on land and at sea. Both aspects are assessed in the context of climate, environment, and societal change, as well as in relation to various potential crises.
The project is led by UiT The Arctic University of Norway.
