Period
2020 - 2028
Funded by
The Research Council of Norway
ArcticHubs
Increasing global competition for natural resources poses major challenges to the Arctic region. These include strategically planning of fair distribution of economic gains and work opportunities, whilst simultaneously minimising the impact of ecological, social, cultural and political challenges and tensions that will arise through expansion of new businesses.
2020 - 2024
EU - Horizon 2020
InnoFoodAfrica
This project will explore climate-smart African cereal, pulse and root crops in Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa and Uganda and develop and demonstrate optimal solutions for cultivation practices, processing and productization towards new food products, business solutions and value chains.
Nano Functional Packaging
The project aims to provide novel solutions for these two major societal challenges: plastic waste from food packaging and food waste.
Pigmentation in salmon
This project will study how feed composition affects physiological mechanisms that control the pigmentation of salmon muscle and contribute to the development of a feed that secure good and predictable pigmentation of farmed salmon.
The Norwegian Seafood Research Fund - FHF
MycoSafeBread
Primary objective in MycoSafeBread is to optimize bread products tailored for young children, with an absolute minimum of the mycotoxin DON, while meeting the recommendations for wholegrain consumption and nutrient composition.
2020 - 2023
BlueCC
Developing ecofriendly marine ingredients and products from underutilised marine species.
EU - Horizon 2020>BlueBio Cofund
CarbHealth
Efforts are needed to develop food choices rich in dietary fibre that will benefit middle-aged adults with pre-diabetes. In this project we study a bread fortified with cereal beta-glucan.
NFR - via JPI Cofund
H2Salar
In this project we aim to create knowledge and advance our understanding of the risks and impacts of H2S to the physiology of Atlantic salmon in RAS.
Lumpfish4Food
The main objective with the project is to provide the knowledge necessary to achieve sustainable exploitation of farmed lumpfish.
RingNasjonal
In this project we conduct ripple effect analyses in the Norwegian seafood sector, based on public and private data input.
DIGYMATEX
The aim is to map how the digital maturity of children aged 9-16 affects their behaviour when they use digital platforms, and the long-term effects of the use of these technologies on children’s well-being.
EU - Horizont 2020
NewTechAqua
In this project we test and develop new solutions for European aquaculture.
RASHealth
Water disinfection strategies to improve Atlantic salmon parr production in freshwater recirculating aquaculture systems
CrowdMonitor
Crowding has been identified as a key factor affecting the health and welfare of farmed Atlantic salmon during handling. The results from the CrowdMonitor project will help the industry monitor and optimize their crowding operations
2020 - 2026
FHF – Norwegian Seafood Research Fund
BIO4ROBUST
In this project we gather more knowledge on how to produce robust smolts, post-smolts and slaughter size fish in order to combine the full potential of RAS systems with sustainable fish production.
2020 - 2022
Nofima
EthiCatch
During this project, we will be identifying how the use of various types of commercial fishing gear affect the physiology and mortality of cod and thus their welfare and quality. We will also be investigating the links between ethical fishing, quality and price.
ExtraSnack
The project aims to investigate the health properties of a novel plant-based snacks prototype, produced by extrusion technology using pea starch, pea protein and oat fiber.
Bilateral Fund program of EEA Grants 2014-2021
This is a small selection of the more than 500 projects Nofima is involved in at any given time.
