I do research on genetic aspects of traits like lipid metabolism, omega-3 fatty acids and fat content of muscle, liver and viscera in fish. This work involves estimations of heritability and genetic correlations, identification of genetic markers, and gene expression analysis. I also work towards developing new phenotyping methodology making it possible to include new traits related to sustainability, fish health and quality in genetic analyses and breeding programs. In 2019 I received my PhD degree at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. My thesis was titled «The genetics of omega-3 fatty acids in fillets of Atlantic salmon».
