Kristin Hollung (59) has accepted the position as Division Director for the Food Division at Nofima. She comes from the position of research director for the Department of Food and Health in the same institute and has been acting division director since 1 April 2025.

“We are very pleased that Dr Hollung has accepted the position as Division Director. She has already demonstrated her skills as an acting leader, and her broad experience from research, collaboration with the food industry, leadership and board positions makes her the right person for the job,” says CEO Bente Torstensen of Nofima.

Kristin Hollung has a master’s degree in biotechnology from the University of Oslo and a PhD in biology from the same university. After starting her career as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Nutrition Research at the University of Oslo, she came to Nofima in 2002 as a senior scientist. For the past twelve years, she has headed the Food and Health department with responsibility for 28 employees and projects ranging from basic research to practical solutions for the food industry.

In addition to her research background, Hollung has extensive management education from BI – Norwegian Business School and experience from a number of board positions. She is currently chair of the business cluster Future Food and the Food Grain Partnership, board member of the Portfolio Board for Enabling Technologies, the Research Council of Norway and Expert and jury member for the EASME Transition and Accelerator programs in EIC in Horizon Europe.

Nofima’s Food Division consists of four research departments that work with different aspects of food research and food development. The division aims to contribute to more sustainable, healthy and safe food.

Nofima has five office locations in Norway. Hollung will have an office location in Ås.
