Summary
When developing new cod trap, there is a need to improve and verify the trap catch efficiency. The catch efficiency of trap is measured in the fish attraction to trap (bait, stimuli), whether the fish enter the trap and whether it is kept in the trap (catch rate). Critical areas that can affect catch efficiency are the entrance to the trap which leads the fish in, as well as the location of the bait in trap. Furthermore, it is interesting to know the behavior of the fish inside the trap, whether it gets stressed and injures itself in the trap after catching. The status report addresses initial use of new Innomar trap for cod, practical experience, cod behavior related to the trap and field trials under commercial conditions.
