Summary

The main goal of this project was to develop a process for refining of crude oil from mackerel residues to a high quality product for human consumption. Studied processing steps include bleaching, winterization and deodorization including stabilization of the oil. Successful upscaling from lab to pilot scale refining has been made.
Through the project, we have succeeded in producing a food grade and taste neutral high-quality oil based on crude oil produced from mackerel residues.
