Summary
This is the second report on structural changes in the fisheries sector; the first one treated structural measures and changes in the fleet, this report describes and analyzes structural changes in the fish processing industry. This industry is admittedly influenced by a range of factors, while this reports concentrates on the effects on the processing industry of changes in the landing pattern of the fleet. The processing industry is clearly affected by the size and number of landings. We also reveal marked changes in the regional landing pattern, with more fish being landed in northern Norway. At the municipal level changes are even more marked, with clear winners and losers, but migration patterns also account for much of these changes.
