I mainly work with fillet quality of farmed salmon. This can be related to disease, feed/feeding, production etc. In order to understand underlying mechanisms, gene expression in the living animal is often studied. Cell trials are also a useful tool in this work. I am also involved in the development of methods for predicting quality parameters (such as fillet colour and fat and pigment content) by image analyses.
