Kristine Mjølnerød
Scientist
I work as a scientist at Nofima, within the department of Nutrition and Feed Technology. My daily work consists of research and innovation aimed at contributing to a more sustainable feed industry. I work with upcycling of various by-products and utilization of new, alternative resources with the intention of developing new sustainable feed ingredients. My focus is directed towards development of the process technology. In recent projects, I have worked with raw materials such as mussels, insect larvae, poultry byproducts, vegetable and fruit residues, in addition to by-products from fish.
I hold a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology from NTNU in Trondheim – a program that has provided me with a broad background within process engineering, chemistry, and biotechnology. I am currently working on a PhD project investigating how heat load during processing affects protein digestibility in chicken by-product meal used in salmon feed. The project is a collaboration between Nofima and Aarhus University.
