I lead the Aquaculture Division at Nofima. The division develops research and solutions that contribute to a sustainable aquaculture industry, with a strong emphasis on animal welfare and reducing environmental and climate impact. Our research activities cover the fields of breeding and genetics, production biology, fish health, as well as nutrition and feed technology. The division has modern infrastructure and is located in Bergen, Sunndalsøra, Tromsø, and Ås.

I hold a degree in zoophysiology from the University of Bergen and earned a PhD in reproductive physiology of Atlantic halibut from the Institute of Marine Research/University of Bergen (2002). I have completed postdoctoral research in Paris and at the University of Oslo, and in 2008 I was appointed professor at the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science (later NMBU). My research has primarily focused on the regulation of puberty and sexual maturation in fish. I also have extensive leadership experience in the university sector, including serving as Pro-Rector for Research and Innovation at NMBU for the past four years. In addition, I am a board member of Aggrator Incubator Ås and BIT Innovation Center.
