Summary
The fish processing industry improved its profitability in 2015 from the year before. EBT as a percentage of turnover increased from 1,9 % in 2014 to 2,6 % in 2015. Both companies producing for consumption and producers of fish meal/oil improved their margins. In the whitefish segment, producers of dried fish and of salted fish had the highest margins. However, in sum the whitefish segment reduced its profitability from the previous year. Producers of pelagic fish for consumption also had lower margins, while salmon processers saw a slight improvement in profitability. Value added in the sector for wild-caught fish increased with 2 % from the previous year.
