Summary
In comparison to the preceding year, the Norwegian fish processing industry experienced a considerable increase in earnings in 2014. Most segments producing for human consumption saw improved margins between the years, while the fishmeal/-oil industry saw somewhat weaker (but still high) margins. Especially producers of conventional products like clipfish, stockfish and salted fish, experienced improved profitability in 2014. Employment in the fish processing industry increased in 2014 for the third consecutive year. By the end of 2014 the industry employed 11 700 persons.
