Summary
The purpose of this project was to validate the method “NS-EN 16279:2012” for the determination of fluoride content in feed and feed ingredients. The extraction takes place by mild acid treatment with 1 M hydrochloric acid solution. The content of fluoride is measured by ion selective electrode (ISE), and corresponds to the limiting values of fluorine specified in the Commission Regulation (EC) 574/2011 and in “Forskrift om fôrvarer”, appendix 1, part 1. It was performed a validation/verification of accuracy, precision, linearity and measuring range. In addition, matrix interferences from krill were examined, since the external validation did not include krill products which is the most requested sample matrix in connection with fluorine analyzes at Nofima BioLab. The validation established important method parameters and can be considered complete. The method has good linearity, precision and accuracy, and low measurement uncertainty. There were no significant matrix interferences from krill meal and krill oil.
