I am a Processing Technology Scientist at Nofima Bergen, working on upcycling marine biomass (such as fish, shellfish, blue mussels, microalgae) and terrestrial biomass (including lignocellulose-rich plant side streams, grass, fruits and vegetables, cereals, insects and poultry) into high-value ingredients for food, feed, and bio-based products. My work often integrates the blue and green bioeconomy and is closely connected to the national research infrastructure “Aquafeed Technology Centre” (ATC), supporting future needs in feed processing, bioprocessing, and product development.

My expertise covers both traditional and novel biomass downstream processing methods at lab to pilot scales, including enzymatic and fermentative processes, microwave, physical, and thermal treatments, extraction and separation, and accompanying biochemical, microbial, and sensory analysis. My work has been supported by funding from the EU, industry partners, the Research Council of Norway, and competitive fellowships, including the Kerry Upcycle Food Foundation Fellowship and the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship.

Before joining Nofima, I worked on interdisciplinary bioprocessing and bioresource projects across Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Ireland, India, and the UK. I remain active in European research networks, serving as a member of the Management Committee of the FoodWaStop COST Action. I also contribute to the Marie Sklodowska-Curie associations, EIT Food, and the Lindau Nobel laureates’ meetings alumni community. Passionate about science communication and STEM outreach, I also serve as an Associate Editor for Frontiers for Young Minds.
