I am a Scientist in the Department of Production Biology, Aquaculture Division at Nofima, Sunndalsøra, Norway. My current research focuses on the Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) for Atlantic Salmon, with a specific emphasis on Smolt Production and improvement in the various production systems. Previously, from 2013 to 2024, I served as a Scientist at ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar, India. During this tenure, my work was primarily on the development of captive breeding & hatchery technologies of commercially important food fishes. In addition, I worked on the standardization of Biofloc and RAS technologies for intensive fish seed production. My expertise extends across various fish species and different production systems like Biofloc, RAS and Ponds.
My educational background includes Bachelor’s (B.F.Sc) degree in Fisheries Science from Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, India; a Master’s (M.F.Sc.,) degree from ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai, India, and a PhD from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain and my PhD research was on “Effect of nutritional programming through broodstock diets and selective breeding on reproductive performance and offspring quality of gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata)”.
