SIS Dilemmas
In this strategic institute project, we will investigate and increase knowledge about the dilemmas that can arise among the three sustainability pillars - economy, environment, and social conditions - in the exploitation of our wild fish stocks.

This project investigates challenges related to animal welfare in fisheries in a world where both nature and technology are constantly changing.

In this project, we will investigate the relationships between conditions for live storage (environment) and feeding (dry feed) of small king crabs through 1-3 shell changes and the quality of the product after processing.

In this project, we investigate the quality characteristics of pink salmon, a species that is currently invading the Norwegian coast. We also explore possibilities in utilising it as a food resource.

The project aims to prepare Longyearbyen on Svalbard, as the world’s northernmost town, to become a food destination with culinary experiences amongst others based on coastal captured and processed red king crab and snow crab.

In this project, we will find out why cod weighing over 8 kilograms caught using seine nets results in a lot of injuries to the fish and thus reduced quality.
EthiCatch
During this project, we will be identifying how the use of various types of commercial fishing gear affect the physiology and mortality of cod and thus their welfare and quality. We will also be investigating the links between ethical fishing, quality and price.
