In December 2021 Nofima organized a workshop on the use of blockchain in the seafood industry that gathered users, researchers, industry actors, and solution providers. At the workshop the need to develop a network for all actors working with blockchain solution for / in the Norwegian food industry was identified. 

In collaboration with SINTEF and UiT, Nofima is leading the project BlockMatNet funded by the Norwegian Research Council that aims to set up and sustain that network as well as create an information hub on blockchain in the food industry with dynamic generation of content.

In relation to the project, a workshop on the use of blockchain in the food industry is organized in Tromsø on the 3rd and 4th of May.
